Classic Crispy Air Fried Potatoes

Paprika adds color and a hint of sweetness; garlic powder distributes more evenly than fresh garlic (which can burn at 400°F). This is the version to master first.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs russet or Yukon Gold potatoes cut into 3/4-inch cubes
  • 2 tsp olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp kosher salt
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder distributes evenly; fresh garlic burns at high heat
  • 1/2 tsp paprika color + mild sweetness
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper

Method

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F for 3–5 minutes.
  2. Rinse the cubes under cold water, then pat completely dry with a towel.
  3. Toss the potatoes with the olive oil, salt, garlic powder, paprika, and pepper until evenly coated.
  4. Spread in a single layer in the basket (cook in two batches if needed).
  5. Air fry 15–20 minutes, shaking well at the halfway mark, until golden brown and fork-tender.
  6. Taste and adjust salt. Serve hot with ketchup, aioli, or ranch.
